How to transfer a deceased on a spiral staircase with Bodypod Transfer Mat?

On October 20, 2021, we did another test with the Bodypod Transfer Mat with a funeral director. This time we tested the device on a spiral staircase that are common inside homes. The descent down the stairs is quiet, easy and respectful. Explaining to the family that using a stretcher in this kind of scenarios is sometimes not possible will make the family understand and respect (that’s our experience at least).

Prevent clunking down the stairs

The real benefit is not needing to lift as you would with a mortuary cot and thus reducing the chance for injuries to your muscles and joints.<

There’s an old-school way of thinking you shouldn’t be sledding / dragging / pulling on the ground. Some might say this is disrespectful or might not look good to the family, however, clunking down each step on a cot may also not look good to the family. Each of those clunks can be very jarring to family members. Or if you are in a tight space, banging against the wall accidentally or situations where there’s no space for a cot inside the bedroom, there’s a need for alternatives. This is where the Bodypod comes in.
